🔥 What's Smoking/Cooking on your Pit Boss?

I cooked an Independence Day smorgasbord. Whole pork loin, chicken quarters, hamburger patties, hot dog weenies, Ed's famous Cajun jalapeño poppers, beef sausages and boidan. 7 hr cook, and it was great! The family enjoyed it, as did I.

Damn! Attaboy! Ribs look delicious!
They were great. A neighbor popped by for some beers and we fed him. He was raised in Louisiana and said none of the people that taught him to smoke were under 400lbs. His words were man you nailed these, more than once. He's a dry rub guy so I sent some duplicates of the rub packs I get from a local guy. He runs a pellet smoker for easy meat but he lit up when I said I have a bunch of cherry wood. He took some of that too so I am looking forward to his invite.

Everybody said this was the best turkey they've ever had, and I might have to agree. I used the "Simple Apple Spice Turkey Brine" and "Smoked Turkey Rub" recipes on Hey Grill, Hey. Then finished it with the "Easy Orange Cranberry Glaze" recipe on Allrecipes. Layers and layers of flavor, but dang that glaze sure does dirty up the smoker!

Three day weekend off work today! I had to work the 4th so today is my holiday. I went to the farmer’s market and bought 3 racks of ribs. Hoping they are better than the stuff sold at the store. Either way I helped out a local farmer by buying three racks of ribs and some jellies from him. He has BBQ sauce but it just isn’t very good. I bought two bottles in the past from him and ended up taking them to work and putting in the fridge there. I keep telling people at work “I love Michigan and love living here but people in the north don’t make good BBQ sauce!”.

So I have three racks on the vertical smoker now and it’s supposed to rain I am on the the covered part of the back porch. Doing 3-2-1 with some of Malcolm Reed’s rubs. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube videos lately of people knocking 3-2-1 but I love doing them this way. Never had a bad rib yet and I am hoping these are the best ones yet.

Also picked up some local brew! Bells Brewery is located right here so I have changed brands and only buy Bell’s now.

My wife has family in Grand Rapids, will have to give that Bell's a shot next time we're there. I'm not a fan of IPA's but wheat beer can be mighty tasty! Show pics of the ribs please!
That Oberon is seasonal and it’s about the end of season. But there are quite a few Bell’s options. Light Hearted IPA is really good. And Founder’s brewery is in downtown Grand Rapids. They have a ton of choices there too and some of the lighter colored IPA’s are excellent. But we mainly buy Bell’s because it’s here in town.

2 hours up so time to wrap the ribs! Will post a pic when I unwrap
