10 degree increments up to 300 degrees then 25 after that. Sucks to have to mail it off to them. Glad I did not buy one of these until the bugs are worked out.
yeah, watched that one last night, good news

how do you know the 850 is included?just to let everyone know this firmware update is not just for 1150 it is for all of the new Pro Series PID controllers.
Same controller.how do you know the 850 is included?
I have not heard anything from Pit Boss about an update for the 850.
similar controller but with only two meat probe ports and different screen layout.Same controller.
No, that will not give you the update. You will have to send the controller off to them to have the firmware updated. From what I understand that 3 step process is a waste of pellets because some people are still having issues after doing the same process. I cannot confirm because I do not have a model with a PID controller. Here is the response to me via the tech support email
There has been an update to your case:
Hello,
If you're having issues with the grill holding temp on the lower settings, there is a 3 step burn off process we'd have you do. If after this you're still having issues, please let us know as we have a plan in place to reprogram the board.
If you do this in a single day, expect it to take about 5 hours.
Set the grill directly to 350 instead of Smoke and run it at that temp for 40 minutes. After that, drop the grill down to 200 and let it run for an additional 40 minutes. Shut the grill down and let it cool down. After that, turn the grill back on to 350 for another 40 minutes, then down to 225 for 40 minutes and shut it down again after that. Then start up to 350 for a final 40 minutes, then down to 250 for 40 minutes. After that's been done, the board should "learn" from that and your temps may be more in line. This will take a bit of time, but there have been quite a few people who've stated this works very well for them.
Please reply directly to this email or give us a callback if you have anymore issues.
Thank you!
If you would like to respond to this case, please reply to this email.
Will it add the 10 degree increments like the video says??
funny, I have reported issues with mine and have not heard anything from them.Member of my church has a 850 I told him about it so he contacted them and they are sending him a return label for his controller to be updated.
call them that is what he didfunny, I have reported issues with mine and have not heard anything from them.
But they are sending me a new cover that has the same problem as the first one, draw strings don't work. I didn't ask for a new one, just pointed out that the draw strings don't work.
I would rather have a controller with proper temperature increments.
I called and had a ticket but the rep that contacted me got my information from my review on Lowe’s and I have already sent my controller off waiting for it to return I’ll follow up as things developcall them that is what he did
yes I called, still waiting for a callback.call them that is what he did
Thanks... I am telling my church member not to send his controller when he receives the return label. Pit Boss must have missed understood him or who knows especailly with PB Customer service, but that would have been terrible for him. Send a controller back and they sent it back saying it is not available for an update. Finally got through to pit boss, the very nice lady said that there is NO update for the 850 PRO SERIES, I asked her about the 1150 model that some people are sending their controllers in for re-programming and she said that it's a different controller and it has a different program that can be updated. Said the new increment settings are to help maintain the temperatures.
So she said all they can do is replace the controller but it would be exactly the same as original one.
So no luck with my 850 as far as better temperature increments.
She also asked me what my P setting was at.????
I told her it does not have a P setting and she said yes it does, now does anyone with a Pro Series PS2 have a P setting
I mailed mine off already so I will be the Test monkey. The representative did ask for my serial number before recommending me send it in so IDK but at this point what else can we do?Thanks... Now Pit Boss has 3 different PID controllers. 1. Platinum grills 2. 850 3. 1150 pretty bad business I have to say and I will tell you this after reading and discussing all of this chaotic cluster of mess from Pit Boss I will never buy Pit Boss grill again....never there is no excuse for that many different controllers and different software. Even the other big name pellet grill companies do not do it.
That's what is confusing to me, if someone from Pit Boss told him that it can be updated then I was hoping to see what the outcome would be after he reinstalled it.Thanks...
