I have the Navigator 1150. I noticed it doesn't have a smoke stack. Instead there are 5 holes running along the backside of the grill. There is a vent control which will allows you to only close off about 50% of the vents.

Is this better or worst than a smoke stack?. I wonder why PB made this model without a smoke stack?

Thx

My older PB 340 is the same way, just 5 holes on the back and no stack. It seems to work just fine. I have no way to adjust them but I did put thermal tape over 2 of them. Honestly I can't tell a difference. I think the PB Classic comes out of the box with 5 holes on the back and you have the option to add a smoke stack.

I got the idea from Paul's Q, FF to about 2:35

Since mine does not have an option to install a stack I did not want to cover them all so I covered the ones on each end.

my opinion is Pit Boss grills are not really smokers as you compare it to a legit smoker..it just a outdoor wood burning pellet convection oven.

Well thats disappointing.

It does it job as a smoker per say, but it will not get you that competition smoke. I have a Yoder 640 and it produces more smoke, but it still not even close to stick burner. I saw youtube video of a guy cooking a brisket on a Pro Series 1100 and this brisket had nice bark as he pulled it out of his Pit Boss grill and then cut the brisket and it had a deep smoke ring. People were questioning it say they never get that bark and ring from there pellet grills.

1 weeks later he confessed that he smoked it on his stick burner to try to get sponsorship and he deleted his YouTube account so it is hard to find the truth on the internet you just have to do yourself.

I have found adding a smoke tube helps a lot. I was really skeptical about them until my 1150 was pouring out smoke for 3-1/2 hours. No editing or swapping of grills did a decent job.
