Pit Boss 820 temperature too high on smoke setting

Hi,
When I set my Pit Boss to smoke mode (p4) the temperature never goes below 300*. All of the other temperature settings work perfectly. Anyone have any idea what is going on with it?

@Gunnar46065 - I noticed in the manual that the different smoke modes were basically pellet drop timers. Have you tried changing your p4 to p0 or p7, or anywhere in between? I found this post here :

The fourth post in that thread seems to have information about the different p settings. I'm going to print that out and put it with my manual.

The P4 setting should never ever go above 300. So there is a issue with your controller and for adjusting the P setting is not going to help as the P4 should keep you well below 300.

I would open a case with Pit Boss/

Thanks, Dave! I was thinking that the temperature was way too high. I will look at opening a case or buying a controller

If you have the budget for $200 I recommend buying a Svannah Stoker controller it is worth it. I have no idea why Pit Boss does not offer a PID controller for Pro Series, Austin, Navigator, and Sportsman grills.
