Been smoking for 50 years and just bought my first pellet grill do i need to burn it out ?

When you get it assembled, yes do a burn in. What model do you have? Turn it on the smoke setting. White smoke will start to appear after a couple of minutes. Leave the lid/door open. You will hear it catch fire and when the white smoke dies down you can close the lid. Then turn up to 225. Once it hits 225 go to 300 then 350 and leave it there for 20 minutes or so.
