If toning down the hot spot over the firepot or getting even temperatures across the grates is what’s really important then you’ll probably want to look at the NEW firepot flame tamers or heat diffusers from Smokeslikeaboss that folks are using to even out the temperatures across the grates ... the posts of those who’ve done it (page search) say it really helps stabilizes the heat across the grates. Additionally, you’ll lose your sear function unless you switch it back or use something to reach through the slots and knock it off.

Any heat diffuser like this bought on Amazon is definitely Chinese made, a blatant patent infringement and is not stainless steel. It has shown to be made of inferior materials and historically will fail.

Awesome you have the wherewithal that it’s worked for you. I’ve personally seen many posts about them failing mechanically and operationally.
And it’s a blatant patent infringement. The patent owner is in the process of getting them removed.

I’ve always been this way. I’d like to see where the owner is removing them because I’ve haven’t seen anything on it
