Hi, my name is John, I live in Calif, unfortunately. Sure wish I lived in Texas. best state in the Union! Not gonna be able to move, anchored by Family which is OK, I'm thankful to have a good family.
I’ve been doing BNQ with Pitboss now for I don't know six or eight years. I had an 850, went to an1100, gave those to my son and got a Titan from Academy Sports last year. Had to drive to El Paso to pick it up because Acaddmy will not sell or shipped to Calif. won't touch them with a 10 foot pole . But it was worth every mile!!! It's performed flawlessly and I feel kind of bad because boy I read somebody's comments and problems other people have had and I don't know how I lucked out, but I did . If you can get one that works it's wonderful but damn, taking the risk and seeing how you get treated by Pitboss if it doesn't work out, well how can I encourage anyone to buy one in that case case?
I am 70, retired Military, Navy, submarines, and spent 30 years working for Chevron - absolutely best company there is, I had a blast there was very well taken care of!
I am laid up right now, have been for about a year. Got two legs jacked for two different reasons, but end result is I can do about 30 feet on a walker, so hoping to get better but yeah, it sucks.
Plenty of time to watch YouTube videos though, think about barbecuing! Really looking to get into briskets, I have been watching Steve Gow over on YT, Smoke Trails BBQ, - that guy has made some amazing inroads on cooking brisket, holding and rendering fat, really impressive stuff. I'd encourage anyone to take a look at him!
I'm looking forward to being part of the family here and seeing what I can learn about Pitboss, BBQ and share a few ideas maybe!

Welcome from central Texas and thank you for your service John and hope your situation gets better. I’m happy that you’re doing things you like cause that’s going to keep you sharp as a tack. 👍🏻

Cant wait to see what ya got cookin’!

My family got me started on pellet grilling well over a year ago either an 850DX and it’s really been an asset and fun as well for me.

I had one auger jam but I chalked it off as learning event and practically saw it coming as I left pellets in the auger for about 6 months without ever running it empty which lets pellet dust build up and eventually causes fire in the tube. If it not fire it’s moisture in the air that causes problems with the dust build up.

All in all I give it a thumbs up.
