Hi all, new to the forum so please forgive me if this has been addressed before.

I was smoking a pair of Pork butts and about 6-7 hours into the cook I received a fan error and the smoker shut down. I was able to save the cook and finish in the oven since I was through the stall, but the fan issue was new (grill is about 4 years old and has seen a lot of action).

Initially I tried to unplug the grill and see if it would reset or something, but no luck. Checked the fan itself and it was spinning and moving just fine. Decided I would need to swap out a new fan and ordered one. Once it arrived (about a week later), I decided to try it one last time and lo and behold, the fan was operating fine with no issues.

The weather the day of the cook was hot and humid, with temps in the 90’s. Grill is mostly in the sun, so I’m wondering, could the fan motor simply have over heated and is now fine? I’m considering swapping it out anyway, but questioning myself….

Thanks for the help.
