Drip Tray Over Flame Deflector

Has anyone tried using a drip tray to keep deflector tray cleaner underneath? All thoughts are welcome!

I always use an aluminum pan of different sizes depending on what I’m smoking. But I have a vertical smoker and I use it because I’m lazy and it makes cleanups easier and less chance of a fire.
