I have a new pro series 1100 from Lowes with the latest controller. Smoking St Louis style ribs. Set temp is 230 for 3 hours. Then 250 for 2 hours. The 3 hour segment seemed to work. But at 250, actual temp ran 270. Bottom grate temp in mid back of grill ran 180-196. Meat probe temps never increased past 155 - 160. Removed foil. Same thing. Upped the set temp to 270. Actual temp running 285. Grate temp at 225. At the 5 hour mark with unfoiled ribs at 179. This is very difficult to control. Any ideas?

I had the same issue more or less. 100 degree temp difference between digital and the right side of the grill. Had the local smithy make me a heat shield which I installed today got the temp differences down to about 5-10 degrees. That is probably better than you could ever hope for.

20 degree swing, how about a constant 80-100+ degree swing?
Ready to throw in the towel. I've done everything it says to do, clean after use, clean probe, clean fire box, Change pellets.... Nothing seems to work. The problem is the temperature swings, typically to the high side on my Sprotsman 820. I can have it set to 350 degrees and it will go up to 480+ degrees, and not just once. I usually have to set the temperature 50 degrees below whatever the recipe calls for and still sometimes that's not enough.
What's my best option? Can I get a replacement controller board?
