Just curious as to if any of y'all use or have used this particular heat diffuser?
Diffuser plate
I haven't checked for hotspots yet since I am on the road until Friday morning and my thermometer setup just got delivered today.
I cook big on the weekend so I can take good food on the road with me for the week that I'm usually gone for.

I bought a cheaper one on amazon for my pb 820 sportsman but it was too wide so I cut it to fit the rounded sear plate and it works great. I cut 6 " out of the middle then cut that in half and added to the sides and it works really well! The key is getting the height just right so You have as much room over the fire pot as possible without raising the rounded sear plate at the stack end.

Something you might consider. Buy a heat gun from harbor freight so you can check the temperature across the grill.
Works real good

Nice job. That’s the same handheld thermometer I have.

yeah I really like it. I unplug it from the probe to stick in the meat for instant read. The temp on it was the center and the low temp at the bottom was on the right side close to the stack. I did move the plate towards the stack 2" and it all came out perfect across the grill!

I purchased the Smokes Like a Boss heat deflector https://smokeslikeaboss.com/products/heat-deflector-mod
and 4 window flame tamer https://smokeslikeaboss.com/products/new-flame-tamer-flame-diffuser-2
for my 1100 Pro Series which had a lot of temperature swings and uneven heating.
I have been doing some experiments since the mods and it looks like the deflectors work as advertised. Note the built in temp probe has always been off by 15-20 degrees from probes placed in the grill. I placed one probe on the right and one on the left on the second rack.

Mine is spot on too.

fire it up and get some biscuits and do the biscuit test. Moving it back and forth just a little makes a big difference. Also if you cover the sear plate with 2 or 3 layers of heavy duty foil you can get the temp down in that area also. Experiment till you get the temp you want.
