I bought my first pellet smoker today because I wanted to do a brisket and it's 20° in Murfreesboro Tennessee which is pretty cold (for a Southerner) and I wanted to see how quickly or if the smoker could get to temperature and it took maybe 30 minutes to get to 350 degrees and then I turned it up to high and within 5 minutes was over 400 degrees and got as high as 450 degrees before I turned it back down. That said my concerns about doing a brisket in this smoker in cold weather and being able to achieve and maintain temperaturehave been answered. It was well worth the $399 I paid for it at Lowe's, and if you pay an extra $80 you can get a four year protection plan so I'm very pleased so far.

I just bought one yesterday and I burned off last night and am smoking today. It is working great. Picked up from Lowes because I had $200 in Lowes bucks that was burning a hole in my pocket. I am smoking chicken, I have it se at 225 and with the stack down all of the way, it is holding at 212 and it is 30 degrees right now.
