Hello All,
I just bought a Pit Boss 850 Pro and can't wait to get it fired up. My first pellet grill and after reading many reviews on other brands and models, it seems that they all have their issues, but for the price and build quality I have to give Pit Boss the nod. I just finished assembly and I was impressed how well built this unit is. I won't give it my stamp of approval until I actually plug it in and get some use out of it, but it sure looks pretty. I own a small Masterbuilt Mes 30 that I've been smoking with for about 5 years now and It's treated me pretty good. I already own a smoke tube if I need to boost the smoke a bit on the 850. Been reading up quite a bit including mods, issues, and info I might need to get started. I'm in PA and I hope I have decent weather this weekend to get the initial burn in. Wish me luck :)

Welcome and good luck with your first cook. What are you going to smoke first?
Thanks! probably something cheap like chicken to see how it goes. Looking forward to some good Brisket but I'll wait till I have spent some time with it and learn it before going to expensive. Ribs, Brisket, pulled pork are some of my favorites.

Welcome aboard!

Doing the initial burn in right now so I can have it ready for morning. Decided to try pork roast for my first cook since it is New Years.
Ran it for 45 Minutes at 250 then cranked it up to 350 for another 45 Minutes. Shut down and left it cool off, then sprayed everything inside with canola oil. Fired it up and set to 450 and It reached temp just now according to the app. I'll let it run for another 45 Minutes and I think I'll be good to go. Everything seems to be working fine except for the bluetooth, which is almost usless. Wifi is working great so I'm pretty happy overall.
