Hey gang! I’m new to pellet grilling/smoking having just purchased a Pro 850. I’ve used my electric smoker extensively and I’ve been gas’s grilling 1-2 times a week for 30+ years. So, excited about the new pellet! - l have a quick and basic question that’s probably been asked a million times on here. So forgive me…. What can I expect for consumption of pellets per pound/per 20lb bag? I’m other words - How many 1-2hr grilling sessions can I get out of 20lbs and/or how many 6-8hr smoking sessions can I get out of 20lbs? Obviously that will depend on what temp ranges I‘d be operating in. So, I’m just speaking in generalities.

Thanks in advance!

There's a lot of variables, are you smoking versus grilling. Outside temperatures. Type of pellet, apple versus oak or hickory.
I was never concerned about consumption; I always have 2 bags of pellets ready if I have a long smoke to do.

depends on temp your cooking at .I would estimate I get over 18 to 20 hr of cook time out of a 40 lb bag

As per @Mike From R.I., so many variables. So while my response won’t give you those answers you are looking for let me say that over time, cook after cook through the year you will learn what the pellet feed need will be. Experience is the best teacher.
