JUST GOT THIS SMOKER/GRILL COMBO LAST WEEKEND AND I AM HAVING ISSUES. I FEEL LIKE I NEED AN OWNER'S MANUAL FOR DUMMIES! I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE TEMP SET.
WHEN I START IT UP, I TURN THE DIAL TO 250 AND PUSH THE DIAL SO I THINK I HAVE IT SET. BUT WHEN I GO BACK OUT ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, IT IS NOT OVER 170. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT I'M DOING WRONG! I WANT TO SMOKE SOME STUFF THIS WEEKEND BUT I DON'T WANT TO WASTE THE MEAT OR TIME IF I CAN'T COOK IT PROPERLY.
IT TOOK ME FROM 9AM-DARK-30 TO SMOKE A CHICKEN LAST WEEKEND AND I KNOW THAT IS NOT RIGHT!

What model? I think some of the newer models have to "learn" a few times to get up to temp faster. Someone who has a PID controller can elaborate more.

To set the temp. turn it to the desire temp. then tap/hit the knob in quickly once. The temp will now be set. PDI controller take a couple cooks to learn. If all else fail give Pit Boss Tech support a call 877 303 3134 option 2.
