Hey all, new to the forum, and hoping I can get some information. I have a pit Boss 1600 pro series that I've had for 7 months I'm on my third controller second igniter and still am having what I believe issues getting to temperature in a reasonable amount of time, currently I just replaced the controller and the igniter it was 80° outside temperature when I started the grill it was at 80° as well, after a 5 minute smoke burn off I increase the temp to 350°,I am currently at 45 minutes and at only 340°, can anyone give me some advice, I have brand new pellets auger is clear the fan is working the stack is opened all the way up I've had several calls with Danson they tell me most people can get to 450° in 20 minutes, they say I'm doing something wrong, any information would be super helpful thanks guys????

How often do you clean the temperature sensor?
Should be after every other cook. It stops temperature swings where it’ll heat up like it’s supposed to

Sorry I should have stated I changed that as well, honestly I've only cooked on it 3 times in 7 months, I refuse to wait over an hour to get to 350 deg. I had it in for an hour and a half and it barely made 400 Danson says people get to 450 in 20 min...... Not mine, struggles to get to 180 in 20 min!!!!

Welcome to the group. I too would be back on the phone to customer service as many times as it takes to solve the problem. Are you using an accurate temperature probe to check the actual temps? I never depend on just the controller display. I love my Thermoworks Smoke for both grill temp and meat probe. Good luck.

I have a meat probe plugged into MP1 just laying on the grate above the fire pot,and it reads about 25-30 degrees higher than the temp sensor? I have never checked with any other means!

Thanks man really hoping to get this figured out and get busy cookin!!!

Agreed and understood, just mentioning the comparison between the 2 as I have not measured the temp any other way, I would doubt that both would be off by astronomical numbers

Tried several cheapie oven thermometers and even the. Pitboss probe on the grate. I am very happy with the accuracy of my Smoke, be it for just me or calling Pitboss support.

I find my updated controller is off by about 10 degrees at 250 but am able to accurately adjust.

Hope you get your issue solved.

My 1150 got better each time I used it as it learned. PID is like that.
All my cooks start off on smoke setting for the first hour or two. Then I go to whatever temp I want to cook at and it usually responds within 20-40 min now

So figure this one out, I was so aggravated that this POS wouldn't get to temp I bought a brand new one confirmed it has the updated controller and same damn issue, right off the rip I built the grill which is simple, started off with smoke then set it to 350 for the burn off, and just like the other one 2 hours in and only made it to 327!
I would welcome a pit boss customer service rep to explain to me what the hell the problem is here!! Better yet I would pay one to come to my house and show me how they get to temp in 20-30 min!!!!!
