Newbie trying to understand

I’m new to smoking meat and I was wondering since I got my new PBV4PS2 when smoking meat do you keep your meat probe in the entire smoke or do I need to take it out? I don’t want to ruin it or catch anything on fire. Lol I know I sound dumb but better safe than sorry.

I have the same smoker. The probes are made for heat up to I believe 600 deg. I always leave mine in so I can monitor it with the Wi-Fi to my phone, makes life so much easier.
