Hello got Pit Boss 850 month ago. So far so good. Took out gate guard on pellet hopper. Couldn’t figure out why heat cover wouldn’t stay up. I discovered slots on hopper end. Duh. Overall enjoying it. Here in pacific NW it doesn’t like heating up in cold weather. Otherwise ok so far. Looking fwd to knowledge from forum members first cook was ribs 3-2-1 seemed a little long. Reversed sear t-bones Again a little long. But both were good. I’m guessing a beverage and cigar may have contributed. But dam it’s all so fun

My husband and I just bought our first smoker at 70 and 72. One is never too old to take up a new interest. Keeps the brain cells engaged!

I got my 850 last December, and love it!!! I still have my offset smoker for special occasions. But my pit boss gets most of the work. I have smoked just about everything you can think of, and I use it for normal grilling as well. I have been pleased with it. Even when opening the grate and grilling like normal it works great. My BBQ chicken even seems to come out more moist than it does in a normal grill. I feel like I’m cheating, but who cares. Everything is moist, no real flare ups, and has a good easy smoke taste to it.
