Does anyone use an insulated cover on their pit boss.

I’ve got a 1150 pro and was trying to use it the other night.

It’s still cold here, about 40f and it was blowing a gale but it was struggling to get over 180f.

I was thinking about buying the cover and wondered if anyone else uses them.

Thanks

You need to keep them out of the direct wind. On a chilly day it'll suck the heat right out of the smoker.
Personally I have not yet had to use a cover and I've done successful cooks well below freezing.
However to answer your question yes I've seen where some folks have posted here about using covers. Some use a homemade system with a welding blanket.

I have one on mine but rarely cook on super windy days. The highest I cooked in was 50 mph winds and it was 20 degrees outside. It was one of them days were I didn’t look at the weather. But I have used it in single digit temps without much issues just can’t open it a lot.

I have an insulated cover for my PS850. I used it all winter with great results. It seemed to assist in getting the temp up at a normal speed and maintained the desired temperature throughout the cook. The caveat to that is my smoker sits in the opening of my garage which does not normally take on any direct wind. I cooked in temps well below 20 degrees with excellent results. It's important to follow the directions and not use it in temps above 40 degrees. In my humble opinion, I think they are worth the money.
