Hey guys I’m from western pa and started smoking on an Oklahoma joe longhorn and currently using the pit boss pro 1150. I got it about a year ago and decided I wanted to do the pid update since I figured they have worked all the bugs out. Turns out I don’t have my receipt and without it they won’t send an updated controller. They said I could buy it but that kind of hurts when you already paid 700 bucks for the grill. I bought it with cash from lowes but they only keep cash purchase receipts for 90 days so I can’t get a receipt. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m pretty much sol which sucks cause those temp increments would be awesome and similar to what some traegers got. They ran my serial number and said it should have the updated one but I can confirm it is not. Anyone got a pit boss receipt they want to send me a picture of. Have an awesome day guys and interested to see what everyone’s cooking.

I got it around March of 2022. I guess when they were putting it together they said eh we have this one left let’s stick it in there lol.

When you after turn it on and it lights what is the first temp you see? When you push the round button to change temps and what is the next temp it lets you choo?

Have you downloaded the new app and let it update your firmware through wifi? If that don't work it's time to use the warranty

Yeah just updated it a few days ago. Didn’t make any difference on temp increments. Problem is I don’t have my receipt and I paid cash so lowes can’t look it up so I’m basically out of luck.

I'd call the store you bought it from, they can track the sale, might take a few days but they'll have it. Happen with a tv at Walmart we bought, wife lost the receipt and Walmart came through with a receipt a day or so later.

It really sucks that Lowes asks us for our phone number before EACH purchase and then tell you some crap about 90 days.
Have you navigated to the Pit Boss site to register your product? By submitting the serial number and purchase date, etc and then contacting Pit Boss about your warranty issue should be enough proof of purchase IMHO.
Other Pellet Smoker Companies require the serial number to receive PID upgrades. A letter (snail mail) with pics aught to work.

Thanks for the welcome! Thanks for the suggestions guys I appreciate it. I’ll be throwing on a brisket tomorrow so looking forward to that. Currently working the problem and see if I can get the new controller. Just been busy to really get back into figuring it out. Have an awesome weekend!

If I had a reciept I would certainly share it. A little Adobe Pro or BlueBeam we could make it happen.
