I live in North Georgia. I have an offset wood smoker and an electric upright smoker and a regular gas grill. I've been cooking since I could reach the stove. I've been professionally trained as well as thoroughly trained from Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom! All now passed away, but I have ALL of their books and recipes! I'm really looking to get into the pellet smoking. I have the opportunity to but a brand new 700fb for $250. It's from a relative. He buys pallets and sells the stuff. That's why I know It's new. But it would not come with any warranty. While I know it's a good deal, there are things about it I'm not crazy about. But The price is right. Not a fan of the holes in the back but I've seen the smokestacks online. Not a lot of room inside either. My problem now is that I watched a video about cleaning out the fire pot with a vacuum, etc. And a video on the PB Pro series 1600 where the fire pot was removable from the front. I really liked that concept. But it's price is too steep. The 1600 online mentions nothing about that feature that I've seen. Are there other models that have that easy clean fire pot? And possibly the pellet dump hatch as well? Thank you in advance. I'm also on the smoking meat forum for many years.

Welcome to the forum! I believe the 1150 has the easy ash clean out as well.

Hello and welcome!

I gotta tell ya....Thats a sweet deal! I would love to find a new 700FB for 250 bucks. heh heh.

Now with that said, I did go out and do some digging. That model does not come with the easy-out fire-pot removal setup. Which in all fairness, assuming that you can lift the grates and heat shield, shouldnt be a deal breaker. The vacuum method of ash removal is how I clean out my 1150...and that DOES have the easily removed firepot feature. I take my grates out to clean them after each cook. Lifting out the heat diffuser/shield is easy, and I scrape that down after each cook as well. So the vacuum thing (since I have a small vacuum nobody was using anyway), is just another step that takes literally 30 seconds, from plugging in to unplugging of it.

If I wasnt 500+ miles away....I'd take that deal if you chose not to. :)

Best of luck with whatever you decide on doing!
