Thanks for the input. I cook a lot of full packer briskets and am thinking with the hot spot in the middle it might be best to cook those on the second rack.

I have a rack with legs that I use when I'm not doing ribs. when I do ribs I put them on the left & right of the fire pot.

Sparky - I will look for a rack. How far above the grates does it raise the meat? I bought a 8.7 pound pork shoulder to experiment with this weekend. I figured while checking temps might as well cook something and pork butts are so forgiving.
