"HEAVY D" Stick burning heat diffuser

There are 2 one inch wide metal pieces, on on ether side if the burn pot. I thinking I'm going to cut 1 1 inch wide track out of the mesh on the heavy d so it will slide down on it

In the upside down picture you posted, I would grind off all 6 welds and trim the right and left edge about 1/8 inch then re-weld back in place.

That would work. I just have to find someone to weld it for me

that might work as well, unless you have to slide the clean out tray sideways to release it and re-install it.

Hadn't thought of that. I like your idea better now. Thanks I appreciate it.

I sent it to the autobody shop next door to my work the removed the perforated part from both sides and removed 3/16 of an inch from each side and welded it back. Now there is plenty of room for it to slide over the burn pot. The best part is they did it dirt cheap and just asked for me to bring them something next time I cook. So I think I will bring them a few racks of baby backs. I can't wait to finally give it a test run, I will be doing a Chuck roast on Sunday..........stay tuned!

That's awesome! If you can make a video of it in action, even if it is a short video. Would like to see how well it works.

I just installed the HEAVY D. It now fits perfectly over the fire pot. I did notice that the drip tray doesn't sit down completely on the left side. It is still angled so the grease will still run to the bucket but it almost touches the underside of the left cooking grate. Not a big deal to me, but wanted to keep those who are interested up to date.
