Flame broiler slide keeps sticking

My slotted slide cover keeps sticking to the flame broiler to the point I can’t open it while smoking. Seems like there is too much surface contact between the two pieces. Anything that drips through gets between and bonds them together. Thought about bowing the slide cover a bit to reduce the full contact. Anybody else have this problem or have a solution.

I break mine down after each cook and clean it.
You could always use foil

yes foil over the top and spray inbetween with cooking spray. Do not bend it! That will make more heat come out of the middle and create a big hot spot

cooking spray works for me except burnt ends cause severe sticking. I pretreat with cooking spray makes easier cleanup. Open to other suggestions though. Thinking there is a better product available.
