Brand new but display doesn't work

I need help before we return a second grill to the store. First one was bought, preassembled, yesterday and when my husband tried to prime it the auger wouldn't work. Also no display. He called the support number included with the grill but they couldn't figure out the problem and said return it to the store. He brought home another brand new, preassembled one this morning and the same exact problem. The display will not come on. There is one light that we assume indicates that it's getting power but we cannot find any other place online that addresses this issue. It seems strange that both grills would have the same problem so we feel like there may be something glaring we're missing. If you could help us we would be so appreciate. It's a lot of trouble taking it back to the store, again, if it's something we can do here. Thanks so much!

What model of Pit Boss? I have a Pro 1150 and had to press/hold the power button several times and it work,
Never have had a problem since.

I too just purchased the 1150 this past week. It is a little finicky. It says to press and hold auger button. But, the auger does not continue to turn when pressed and held. Mine stopped over and over again. But it will turn give it a chance. It took several minutes to prime mine before pellets started dropping in the tray.
page 19 in the owners manual explains Hopper Priming Procedures. Hope this helps.

My Austin XL is doing something similar. It's close to 3 months old, and worked fine until recently. The display is blank, when I first turn it on. Shortly after warm-up, it will start showing up, but is rather dim.

Call Pit Boss and they will send you a new controller. Sounds like the one you have is bad. It's frustrating I know but it's a common issue

When hitting the power button on mine, it lights up, but the number display doesn't come on until you turn the temp dial to "smoke" (or any other temp.)
