Hey y'all, I'm new to all this smoke show. I love BBQ of all kinds, smoked, grilled, baked, whatever. If it's meat, I'll eat it!
We had a pit boss memphis ultimate but now we're on the hunt for the best Pit Boss for our family. My man's usually the one to use the grill but I'd like something that I could also learn to use when he's not around. We have a small family of 4, but do host other families on weekends. We'd like one that smokes as well has has an open flame.
So I'll be browsing the forums in search of the best one for our needs.
Any and all in opinions are welcomed.

thanks

I would look for a smoker with a defusef fitted over the burn pot. I fixed up a PB700 (3yrs old) that has the slots in the plate under the smoker grates. With the grates closed that sheet metal gets super heated to the point that the brisket and pork butts "smoked" over top of that area charred with the slots closed. I found a piece of 3/16 inch plate to hang under the slotted area to deflect the flame.
