My 2+ year old Austin XL will not turn on. It appears to be dead. Please help. Naturally, this is a bad time for it to quit.

First, try using a different electrical outlet and see if that solves the problem. Next, if that doesn’t work, try changing out the 5 amp fuse that’s in the controller behind the control panel. The 5 amp fuse takes about 2 minutes to swap out and cost about $3.00-$5.00 at most hardware stores. If those 2 steps don’t work, try reaching out to Pit Boss Customer Service for assistance. I had the same exact problem with my Austin XL about 2 years ago and it was out of warranty, but Pit Boss still sent me a replacement controller for free, no questions asked. Hopefully that’ll solve your problem. In my situation though, even replacing the controller still didn’t solve my “No power issue”, so I just upgraded and replaced my entire pellet hopper and controller with a Pellet Pro PID Controller and 35lb. The upgrade wasn’t cheap, but it was well worth it and I never had a problem since. Give those first 3 tips a try first and hopefully everything will workout, if they don’t, Google SmokeDaddy Pellet Pro and give them a call. Good luck.

thanks, Semper Fi! I did speak to Moriah at Dansons (Pit Boss parent) who suggested the same, told me how to access the fuse, which was OK. They went ahead and registered me, and are shipping a new control board. Hopefully that'll work. I was already thinking about an upgrade so thanks for that tip. I'll check it out.
