New to form, and fairly new to Pit Boss. I have an older Austin Xl with copper color lid. It works, but needs a little TLC. I am looking at the new Pit Boss Austin XL's and see they are the Onyx edition. I am debating on upgrading mine with some newer parts, vs just buying the Onyx. My questions are, is this new model onyx built cheaper, or is it basically the same thing as my older one? I don't mind putting some money into mine if it is a better grill. The onyx is looking like right at 500 new. Any feedback? Mine is the first pic

Welcome! My first pellet cook was on a buddy's Austin XL. I bought the Austin XL Onyx Edition. PB made the heat diffuser modification on the Onyx Edition. I added the flame tamer and front shelf. Perfect for me. Wouldn't say one cooks better than the other. Enjoy!

Sell the old one and buy the Onyx Edition.
Here's a search comparing the two.
