Has anyone added a cold smoke generator (like smoke daddy Big kahuna) to a vertical smoker (I have copperhead 5 series)?
I would like to get a little more smoke flavor into the meat. Would love your ideas! Thanks!

We messed around with a Smoke Chief on a pitboss vertical for a while about 5 years ago. Didn't work so well (we kept fighting creosote taste from it).

Todd Johnson (a great guy!) gave us several a-maze-n smoke tubes and mazes over the years, and we use his products frequently in our electric smokers. For our verticals, we found that if we would just turn the vertical smoker temp down and smoke a little longer, we got great results. Low and slow almost is almost always the answer. About the only time we use the tubes in a vertical nowadays is for cold smoking.

But, that is just our experience. YMMV.

Thanks everyone. I have tried the smoke tubes, but they won't stay lit very well. They aren't 'a-amaze-n brand though. Could the holes in the side of the tube be too small?

I don’t think so
I got mine off of Amazon and it works great

I've tried the Smokai pushing the smoke through a silicone hose at the bottom. Didn't work well. The smoke got too cold and wouldn't go up to the chamber. As a side effect, I got condensation like liquid smoke building on the hose. Haven't tried it though.

I ended up using tubes and I had the same problem with they not staying lit. Solved with a 5 bucks mini fan from ebay.
