Upgrade to wifi

I just upgraded my Austin XL to the new WiFi controller. It’s the same controller as the competition series. Should the power indicator stay on if the smoker is plugged in but turned off? Thanks

Not that I’m aware of and I’d unplug it after each use. I learned that lesson once when I had a lightning strike. Luckily I had a new controller in my shop

So I called pit boss this morning. The new panel power button does stay lite showing it has power. Said it’s a new feature. Recommend I unplug the unit when not in use.

Can the Controller in the Pro Series 1100 be upgraded to wifi? They released the new units maybe 6 months after I bought mine. Not a huge deal but would be nice to monitor the temps inside without constantly going outside or trying to see it through the window.

Very Cool, I have been wanting to upgrade mine that is a standalone unit. So you have the IBT-24S? Looking at the 4XS. Looks like it has a probe dedicated to ambient temp as well with a clip. Getting ready to order that. Appreciate it!

I am kind of looking for an upgrade to the controls to change things from inside and be lazy

Also, my smoker has had issues popping the GFI and have to use a different outlet so wondering if I need to check all the wiring or could that be the controller as well. Seemed to happen after I did a thorough clean on it with some pressurized water. I ensured, or thought I had the areas that could be a concern covered with plastic and tape.

I have the IBBQ-4T it has wifi so I can see temps away from my house. It won't control the grill but will reliably let me know what's going on.
My 1150 has the capability but has bit me in the past. My grill runs great without it.
