Hi, sorry if this has been answered already, I looked but didn't see my problem specifically... If I missed it then feel free to point me in the correct direction.
I have a pitboss 1150 pro series, had it for years. For christmas I got the updated board that makes it controllable from the app. I installed the board, works normal. I am trying to connect it to my app and I get to the update part and I can get to 47% then it faults out. I have tried hundreds of times, and sometimes I get 30% sometimes more somtimes less. 47 is the highest I have gotten. Is there something I can do that will make it work? What if I create a hotspot on my phone and connect it that way? It says it connects to wifi, and then goes directly to update and thats where it faults out.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you all! I'm from Indiana I am going to try the uninstall and reinstall of the app and see if that might help. I tried on my iphone and on my ipad and it did the same thing with both. If the reinstall doesn't work Im going to try and make a hotspot with my phone and connect to the internet that way on the grill and see if that works. If that doesn't work then I guess I will call support.

I uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, set my phone as a hotspot and tried again. I still can only get to 47% so I am going to have to call them when I get a chance. I mean it still cooks great but paid for the upgrade so I need it to work. I can't see it being a bad board since it does try to update. I would assume its an app problem. I have had lots of trouble with the app before.

We’ve got the 850DX and I noticed at the beginning (Jan) the app worked good enough for me to use then about 6 months later when I opened the app and went to the grill part I noticed a change in the way it connects in that it was checking for an update for the firmware so I let it go and for a few weeks or more it would try to do the firmware update while showing its progress but never made it past 7% but then one week it actually went successfully.

The grill still worked fine and I didn’t notice any changes to the way the grill works with the app and I have no idea what changes if any were made.

Seems to me it might be a server issue in that if it’s too busy it times out. In other words there may not be enough bandwidth width in their system to handle all the update requests and its possible the main update they are making is just registering their products in their server so they can operate without time outs. Maybe a better word for it is optimization of their server. I’m no expert though.
