Just bought a 700 classic ordered a smoke stack and i am going to seal the vent holes in the back with hvac metal vent tape. I have read stack is better and also that stack makes no difference . Anyone have any input on stack or vent holes??

I agree that it shouldn’t make any difference. In a pellet smoker, the fan circulates the smoke and heat; the vent holes or stack just exhaust the smoke, allowing fresh smoke to be circulated. A stack is important on offset smokers because it draws the smoke and heat over the meat, since they don’t have a fan.Welcome from NH![]()
I don't think it makes a difference at all. I have had a 1600 pro for 3 years now and I really never touch the stack. I really think it's there just to keep the rain out.....lol. I've never had a unit with vent holes but I can't imagine that blocking them and adding a stack will improve your cooks. Either way you are getting the desired smoke flow. Just my 2 cents, I look forward to others comments. Enjoy the new toy!
