Smokai

Has anyone added a smokai smoke generator to a laredo 1000. If so how did you mount it. Did it work well?
I researched for a way to increase the hickory flavor in meats. The smokai had pellet smoker issues, the smoke had trouble overcoming the pressure of our pellet grills and messed up some guys smoker fans. I tried different ways to add a wood chip box to the inside of the smoker. Did not work, not enough direct heat to smolder the chips. The last try was to buy hickory powder which I added it to my rub. Bingo, that gave me increased hickory flavor on my chicken wings. I only used a 1/4 tsp of hickory powder to about 4 tbs of rub. Bought from Amazon, Raw Essentials brand. Happy now.
