Hello All,

I have set my smoker on my patio with a cover. I am concerned with the possibility of moisture getting to my pellets in the hopper. Am I just over reacting as a rookie or will it be ok outside covered? Thanks for all advice.

I asked the same thing when I first got my smoker. I was told that I didn't need to worry about it. I leave pellets in my hopper all the time and have had no issues. I only empty out the hopper when I change flavors or when I clean my smoker and hopper. I do cook at least once a week though. Enjoy your smoker!

Both of mine are outside, covered. Never had a problem. And the humidity in Florida is terrible!

I have been emptying and running till after each cook to clear the auger which was a pain. I put a solo cup full of pellets on my patio, Houston Humidity, and after a couple weeks they looked the same. I am still emptying but not clearing the auger. Will see how it goes next cook.

I left pellets in for two weeks. But I won't do it again. On a 14 hr cook I had two flame outs and pellets overflowed the firepot then relit and massive smoke and flame. I'm thinking it might have been caused by ash buildup from Burnable but too high moisture in the pellets. Or just ash from a long cook. Either way on long cooks I am going to dump ashes every 4 or 5 hrs and use dry pellets

I leave mine in with the cover but I use mine almost every week.

however I did leave mine once in the winter for a few weeks and I ended up having to clean it out because the pellets swelled.
