Pit Boss Pro 850 is a PUZZLE

I thought I was getting into a great grill/smoker with this Pit Boss Pro 850. However, I'm finding out there's no support outside this forum, nor is there any direction that correlates to my grill on "how to smoke" with it!! Good grief, is it such a secret that Pit Boss left such info out of their publications? I bought this thing as a grill/smoker, not a PUZZLE!!!
Would someone please give me some direction on just how I'm supposed to use this thing aside from turning it on, adjusting temperature, and turning it off?

Are you having specific issues? Functionality of the grill or cooking techniques? I’m very much a novice but there are many on here that I imagine can answer just about any question you may have

I appreciate the concern, but I didn't buy this thing with the intention of hunting down instructions within a maze-forum of countless entries. I simply want some direction on setting this thing up for smoking. There's a tremendous number of instructions out there via this forum, YouTube, websites, etc., but I didn't expect to have to go on a seemingly endless data-mining effort. Why didn't Pit Boss simply publish some instructions?!

How do I get this thing to "smoke"? I have it set for "S", and that's all I've been able to accomplish. Not really smoking, it appears.

Already found that, and it was wrong...In fact, the publisher submitted an update to the video STATING such .

Assuming you bought the grill new, you have an owners manual. If not it can be downloaded from their website. The manual has some pretty specific instructions on temp/Smoke settings. If you are looking for cooking suggestions then don’t expect to get that from Pitboss.

Negative...That's the rub...Even if you download the manual as a PDF, you will not CTRL-F anything about how to set it up for smoking. I don't consider data-mining "fun", but I'm glad you do

CRTL-F is over my head. Guess I could data mine the meaning if I cared. Print the manual and read it, pretty simple.

Sometime you just have to figure things out on your on and looks like you are heading down that road!

CTRL-F (sorry) brings up "find" for a document. It's not in the manual...Yes, I've figured out I shouldn't have purchased this.
Please take no offense as I am literally appreciative of your (and everyone's) assistance. The point is there shouldn't have to be such a vast forum in lieu of proper documentation of their product.

OK, First of all, I’m probably the most inexperineced smoker on here. You have a good smoker, it will serve you well.
Let’s forget the shortcomings of pitbosses instructions.

Basic steps on my PB850GW

Move it outside
Put pellets in hopper
Plug in grill
Open Lid
Turn on
Press and hold prime button if first time use
Release when you hear pellets in firepot
Let “bad”smoke die down.
Put whatever on
ON MINE dont know about yours
S is default P4 and can be raised up and down by pressing the P button (bunch of P settings that I havent explored yet)
Press the temp knob and turn to whatever temp you desire press the knob again to lock in that temp. (Expect WILD temp swings)

You will only see a lot of smoke on low temp settings.
Hope this helps and remember I only few smokes under my belt so other forum members please correct me as necessary.
