P settings on newer PBV4PS2 ( how to)

Did PB support today.
Called to discuss further smoke control. while was on hold i was perusing the FAQ page on the PB website.
I saw a question on P settings and had remembered earlier posts where people discused it. The newest generation of control boards don't have a P setting buttonthat used to be on the control board.
I you aren't familiar with P settings, it's a mode only available while in "S" (smoke or "L" low mode. what is does its sets a mode where the auger will push for varying times to load the pot then rest. loading the pot will allow pellets to smolder briefly generating smoke. There are 7 steps of P mode, and a nice video explaining the difference on the PB website under FAQ's P setting.
The support agent emailed me a PDF on setting P modes with the newer control panel.
It's a pain in the ass involving setting a recipe time for the P level you want and on and on for different P levels
I can't post the PDF here I think.
its actually a pain in the ass. You can also manually press the prime button with limited success since the fan will incinerate pellets as soon as they ae dumped into the pot

anyway. when I learn, i share.

Neither does min. the P setting only shows if you go into recipe mode. it's a convoluted PITA. i don't know if i can attach a PDF they sent me, but I'll give it a go.

I never did try a recipe setting on mine.

Hello all,
I'm new here and new to the Pit Boss 850DX. Love it but this P_ setting is like Chinese math. Thanks for posting the PDF, maybe the owners manual should have that document in it as well! So I see the procedure now but what actually does each setting do? P1- Just the first setting? Hours- Time for that setting? Minutes- What happens during this time set?

My pit has an "L" but I haven't seen an "S". I want to better understand what happens with each setting in order to set it up properly for different items. If any of you PRO's out there can give a good explanation, it will be much appreciated.

S is for smoke at the start
I don’t go off of time I set my temperature and go off internal temperature

Thanks for posting this. My manual doesn't have this table. So if I'm reading this right, P7 will feed for 18 seconds and pause for 150 seconds correct?
