Hey got a quick question, just bought a pit boss a few months ago have smoked maybe 3 briskets and grilled on it a few times. I noticed that there was rust starting to build up. I always clean the smoker after use and I keep it covered. Is this normal? It's only a few months old.

Mine spot is in the back of the grill and not round the lid area so that is new to me.

Mine was on the bottom near the fire pot. I sanded it down and used high heat spray paint on and and no issues since. That was over a year ago.

Yeah I ended up calling PB and they said to do the same thing. Said you can get a can at Lowe's for 3 bucks

I don't have any exterior rust problems but the heat deflector/drip pan is rusting up pretty good and the metal is even starting to flake up. I don't see it lasting too long and I have only cooked on it about 4 times so far.

the drip pan is rusting for me as well, but I have a Yoder s640 and the drip pan does the same. I think it just because the heat and exposure to the drippings from fat and water is going to rust.

There is something seriously wrong, have had my 850 three months, did all the right things, clean, cover etc, and I have had the broiler plate, and slider rust shut, various other places inside of barrel are rusting. Pit Boss said to wire brush it, and coat with cooking oil between cooks. Not good.

From other posts this is and has been a problem. I am disappointed as other cheap grills have not done this. There needs to be a class action.

I would just re season it with cooking spray . Spray it up and bake it the rust will be gone
