New PB Phoenix

Does anyone have any pros or cons on the new PB Phoenix pellet / charcoal grill that Walmart is selling?
I think it is great for grilling. It is heavy to move around though since it only has 2 wheels. I’m going to see if there is any way I can modify it to put 2 caster wheels on the legs that don’t have wheels. I bought the Weber rotisserie attachment to use on it.

Have you used the pellet grill setting on it yet? There is a YouTube video of a guy using pellet grill function along with lit charcoal at the same time. So, it could be wood pellet / charcoal taste as well.

I have used the pellet grill function several times and it holds the set temp within 5 degrees. I really like the controller that they are using now compared to the old up and down swings that the older models used. However, today I ran into a big problem. I set it up for charcoal to grill a couple of steaks. During the charcoal lighting mode, it started to get smoke coming out of the pellet bin. It wasn't just a little bit of smoke, it was a huge amount of smoke and I thought that it was going to turn into a fire. The charcoal ignition mode lasts 30 minutes and then shuts down the pellet system. I decided to let it run through that cycle and it did the automatic shut down but I am not happy that it happened. I will see what PB support has to say about it in the morning. Otherwise, the pellet function is fantastic.

Welcome from east Texas to the group !
let me know what support says 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well, the lady at PB support did not know anything about it. She sent some pics of pages for burn back on a pellet grill. She suggested that I send a pic of the pellet bin with the heavy smoke coming out of it. I decided to try the charcoal mode again. I left the lid off all during the 30 minute ignition process and no smoke in the pellet bin. It appears that with the high speed of the fan, it creates a pressure in the cooking chamber and the smoke pushes back through the auger and into the pellet bin. With lid being off of the cooking chamber, not pressure. In going back to the charcoal lighting instructions in the owners manual, it says to take the lid off and to put it back on "after" the charcoal is lit and the pellet ignition function shuts down. MY BAD. I should have read it more thoroughly.
