Just noticed my text didn’t show on my original post oddly anyhow this is what I meant to post with it:
So I hit up PitBoss less than a year my chimney was stripped out and the lip on my controller was peeling back no questions asked they sent me the new parts, chimney is the same but I did notice they beefed up the controller. My original one sticker was made in 2019 this board was made in 2020, I bought this thing the first week or 2 it came out in my area.
Some things I’ve noticed:
New one has an additional lip to hold the adhesive down where mine didn’t and that was the cause of my original claim.
The resistors on the board seem to be much larger.
The plastic screws and soft plastic risers have been replaced with hard plastic risers and metal screws.
The new board has only 2 probe ports the old had 4 ports (2 plugged off though).
Model # of LED front logo is newer model.
Most importantly after literally hours of being on call with customer support my app actually works with the grill almost instantly over WiFi. It quit working once the SmokeIT app became stand a line and they couldn’t figure it out, just tried connecting and no issues, no freezing and everything worked. Same WiFi card so not sure why.
Anyone else have theirs swapped out?
I purchased mine june 2021. The third use, the Smokeit app kept turning my grill off! Good thing I started early that day and didn’t head back to bed for another couple winks! Anyway I was able to reach Pittboss they connected me with the App support person. After some questions he said I needed a new board installed. They were out of a ticket send it to Pittboss and within a week or so I got the new one. No instructions but I figured it out. My only problem was one of the screws I was removing stripped out and what Should have been a 10 to 15 minute job took me over an hour. Thankfully I had tools and found another screw to replace the bad one! Everything’s working great now!
