Are the pellets supposed the have alot of saw dust and what's the temp suppose to be atvthe smoke setting? How long and what temp for a whole chicken??????
 
I spatchcocked a couple of chickens this weekend. I started at around 230 for a little over 45 minutes and then increased temp to 400 until internal temperature got above 165. That took about another hour, maybe less. They turned out great.
 
My 1150 runs at 180 on smoke setting. On a whole chicken I run on smoke with a smoke tube for the first 30 min to a hour. Then turn it up 350 to finish.
