I got my pit boss two years ago. It has never been able to reach 225°. On the advice of my son I got it back out and updated the firmware but it still will not reach 225. The highest it has ever reached is 170 and it took an hour to get to that level. The auger works. The igniter works. I cannot figure out what is wrong. This is beyond frustrating. Any advice?

Man. I hoping to look on here and get some answers for this lol. I’m having the same issues, takes forever to get to temp, then when I add the meat it drops the temp and won’t come back up. If I turn the heat up, it will but never to what it’s set too.

First thing I would do is verify the ambient temperature ( temperature probe reading ) you are getting is accurate. Get another ( oven rack) reader and compare the two . Might be a good idea to also remove the temperature probe cover and give it a good washing with dish soap and wipe off.

What model is it? Do you hear the fan? Should be fairly loud. I'm guessing it's either a faulty temp sensor or control board. 2 years old, should still be under 5 year warranty. Call PB CS. Or order the parts off Amazon. If it don't fix it, you can send them back for a refund.

I hope an answer for this shows up. Mine worked the first time I used and that was the last time it worked as it should. I have had mine for a year and a half. A lot of money for junk.

If they would update the firmware to run the blower fan at more than 20% it would heat up a lot faster. Soon as you turn off the grill it goes to 100% for 20 minutes or so before it shuts down completley and it's my opinion that it needs to run at 100% until it reaches the set temperature. My Traegar blows 100%, 100% of the time and it kicks the Pitboss all over the patio on that part.
