Need Rub Suggestions for Tri-Tip

I love tri tip, of my fave things to cook. I usually keep it simple with just SPG.
I bought a new Pit Boss 850 and I'd like to smoke it, then sear it.

Besides the usual Meat Church, Kinder, etc., rubs I'm looking for something a bit more original and different.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try a MSU rub. Start with salt and pepper then start adding what you can find in cabinets. Taste for saltiness as you go.

Tri tip has such great flavor. I wouldn't stray too far from SPG & smoke.
