Hi,

I got my Pit boss 1150 pro last week, but i was wondering if some pellets are making more flame than others. I tried the pellets i had (trager hickory) with the direct flame coocking.
i excpeted to see flame (like Rohan cheef video), but it was weaker at my point of vue. Or is it perhaps a matter of oil and rub ?
I'm new to this kind of pellet bbs....
Thanks !

i don't complain about temperature, but i'm talking about the flame
At 5 minutres video

Tghat's why i'm wondering about pellet

It’s probably the fat content in that steak. What were you cooking? I did some beef tenderloins yesterday and they seared up really nice. Fat content was low so no huge flames but sometimes you have to be careful with fat and flames especially if there are a few more steaks on the sear. I doubt it’s the pellets as long as they are burning it shouldn’t be them. I was using bear mountain gourmet mixed with pitboss charcoal pellets. I was running it at 450.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, but thanks. It was a prime rib like the video. But perhaps with low fat. And the pit boss was not on high temperature.
I'll keep trying this week end.
I had some doubts about the pellets, but the "problem" was somewhare else...
