In the short time I've used my 1150 I've tried different pellets, I see no difference in the flavor of the meat. It seems that the pellets are just a way to create heat but nothing flavor wise. Is this what others are seeing or is this normal? I've tried pit boss competition blend and Jack Daniels which I loved when using wood chips in my electric smoker, no difference!! How do I create differences in flavor?

I’ve injected before and I layer pellets and wood chips in my smoke tube
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Use 100% of whatever wood pellets, not blends. Hickory and Mesquite have the strongest flavors. Cook low and slow so the flavor has time to penetrate the meat and spritz the meat often.

Thanks for the ideas guys, guess it's time to try different pellet brands. I have cooked low and slow, 180 for the first 3 hrs, used smoke tubes, and all that, just can't taste any difference in the flavor when changing from one flavor of pellet to another, has smoke and meat taste fine, just no change in the flavor. Time for new pellets anyway so will try a different brand and see what I get.

I can see where buying "better" pellets might help with clogs, jams, etc... Personally, I don't think it's realistic to expect a huge taste/flavor difference between brands. Seems like your methods/techniques would have a MUCH bigger effect on your outcomes than the pellets you're using. Just my 2¢...

You would be surprised at the difference 🙄 you can smell the difference when cooking. Now taste is more subjective but the type of wood is distinctive and the better like Bear Mountin is a step up from Trager ect IMHOP
