My control panel showed an error message halfway through smoking a brisket. I turned the smoker off and hours later the control panel caught on fire, as did the hopper. Pit Boss will only replace parts, they will not replace the whole unit and my electric smoker (model PBV4PS2) was less than four months old! If I hadn’t been home, my whole house would have burned down. This was not a small fire. I would not recommend buying this product.

I'd call Pit Bos Tech support 877 303 3134 option 2 with those pics. They should make thing right and send you a new smoker.

That's why I'm always close by when using my smoker. Never know what could happen during a cook. Glad it didn't do any damage to your house.

similar thing happened to my neighbor, we both have the same unit as you. he went and talked to the Lowe's manager where he bought and they replaced the entire unit.
