I’ve already had to replace these grates on the PB1100p twice. Now I’m needing to do it for a third time. Every time I go to 350 or higher, they crack in the middle. It does not matter if I warm it up slow, or just go straight to heat. This last time I did a low cook, then upped the heat for a sear. Heard the pop as it approached 350.

Anyone have a better idea for replacing these cast iron grates?

I've only ever used the sear once, for about 5 minutes max. Maybe the flame diffuser is a good idea after all.

The parts over the sear area come off in chunks

Wow, that IS odd. I have an old 1100. Never had a grate issue. I have had to replace the heat plate. I swap the 3 grates around naturally just to make them get equal use, but never had to replace them. I wonder if your heat is actually higher than it reads. May be a controller issue? Just a thought.
