Anyone know how long it takes to burn off the pellets in the auger when changing types? (i.e., I drained my apple pellets and put in mesquite, but you can't remove all of the old ones).

I run my smoker for a while to warm up and burn off the previous wood type, but curious if I need 10 minutes, 20, etc. For a long smoke, it's really not relevant. But for a short smoke I want my desired wood used for most of the cook.

I have a powerful shop vac and vacuum the rest out of the auger tube. At times I still have about 5 -6 stragglers in it.

I use to do a burn off and I set mine to 450 to get more heat to burn off whats on the grates then I give it a could cleaning.

I hold the prime button so it feeds faster but keep an eye on the fire box to not over feed it.
Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get them all out.
But remember, you will have to prime it again at the next start up.
I also vacuum out the hopper.
