I made mistake and left pellets in the auger area and they got stuck. I noticed when I pulled the auger out and cleaned it and reattached the motor, it did not sit flat on the metal below it. The pin was bent. I looked at the auger and it did not seem to be bent, is that part of the design or could something in the motor gotten bent?

not the motor does not seems strong enough to turn the auger. I have ordered a new motor and will pull it apart and do a make sure to clean everything out with a bush to insure there are no further obstructions. I got a 2 RPM motor which is an upgrade, but I was not sure if that motor hovering was a good thing.

I assume the "hovering" you are mentioning is the motor not being attached and floating in the mount. I noticed this on my smoker and after some thought it is as designed. The motor floating keeps the output shaft from having to handle the radial forces developed by the auger while it rotates.

I have run probably 400 lbs of pellets through my Comp series with no issues.
