Can I use pellets in my vertical smoker?

Its gas not electric but of course it has a wood chip tray vs a hopper...would pellets burn just the same and/or be a safe option vs chips?

I see no reason why you cant burn pellets they burn slower than the chips .I mix chip and pellets in my smoke tube to make it longer than 5 hrs

Yes you can. You can even use a smoke tube.
