Burn off

What I'm doing the initial burn off it's not letting me adjust the temperature is it normal for it just to say capital letter L? Or is this just the startup phase that all Pit Boss uses. After the startup phase is complete and the temperature gets the 350 will it automatically shut off and then allow me to restart it and set it at a certain temp.

Just fire it up and turn to highest temperature. Let it run for a bit then turn it off and let it cool down
